Angela de Jong would like to lose five to fifteen kilos this year, but she does not plan to watch TV on the couch less often. “My number one resolution? More time with loved ones.”
Good intentions: some people do them, others don’t. Angela de Jong belongs to the first camp. “Creating more beautiful moments with my loved ones. That seems real to me… There are plenty of things happening in the world. Time passes very quickly, people die and I think that is the only thing you can do to really make life better,” she says.
Ten kilos off
Host Renze Klamer then wonders whether Angela can continue to watch television to the same extent. “That also means watching less television, I think?” he says in his talk show Renze.
Well, no… Angela just wants to keep watching the same amount of television. “Eh, television is also possible with loved ones. Haha. No, but just choose the moments and consciously go for them. That really is the number one priority. And five kilos off. Ten kilos off. Always fun too.”
“Fifteen, even better!”
Renze is completely shocked by it. “Ten?”
Angela: “Always. Fifteen. Even better.”
Renze then complimented: “No, dude. Five is enough.”
On to the content: what does Angela think should be the good intention in the TV world? “Can I please ask RTL if they are just going to broadcast drama on linear television again? I really miss that.”
Drama on TV
There is a major lack of drama on TV, according to Angela. “You used to have a tradition, that of course started with Westenwind, which was a fantastic series, but previously there was always a drama series by Linda de Mol on Sunday evenings. Kruys family, Divorce, that was fantastic and that really gave cachet to that channel.”
She continues: “Take one of those Videoland series when it is, let’s say, six months old and please just throw it on. Something different from the dating programs we have. We now have Winter Full of Love and then you will soon get Married At First Sight again. It goes on and on, but the mix…”
Fine next to each other
Hopefully RTL will listen to it, says Angela. “The commercials used to do quite a lot of drama and SBS 6 is now going to do a bit of it again with Medisch Centrum West, but RTL could do more.”
Isn’t drama a thing anymore? on demand? “I think they can coexist just fine. Oogappels is the most watched series for the NPO on the streaming services and more than a million people watch it linearly.”
