Angela de Jong wants a column about politics

Can the flag already be raised in Hilversum? Can Wendy, Gordon, Linda and associates organize a party? Angela de Jong wants to exchange her column about television. “I want a political column.”

Angela de Jong almost wanted to call it quits last year, but she postponed it a little: she wants to exchange her column about television for one about politics. So there is light at the end of the tunnel for the stars at the Media Park. It’s not a question of if, but when she will stop with those always mean bits about the TV.

Angela to Binnenhof

A switch is coming, Angela says in the talk show An Honest Conversation. “I have to say: last year I was more concerned with it. Then for a while I really thought: I’ve been doing it for over five years now, maybe it’s time for something different. I also really enjoy politics, as I’ve noticed lately. Especially everything that happens in the Binnenhof.”

What then? “Just that whole scheming, the stuff. I increasingly notice that the entire parliamentary circle there is very similar to the television world. How important images are, how different things can be behind the scenes, how people spin and act.”

In ten years

Angela indicates that it will still take some time. “I always think: when my youngest has left home – which will take another ten years – then it might be fun to walk around there. Just like a fly on the wall. A bit of an outsider, just like I am now in the television world.”

She concludes: “A bit of looking, a bit of hearing what is there and describing what I see. Watch what they do and occasionally confront them about the fact that what they are doing is really ridiculous. Well, I would quite like that.”
