We see her frequently in talk shows, but hardly or not at all in Dutch celebrities: Angela de Jong. She reveals that she has been asked twice to participate in The Masked Singer, but declined the invitation. “I’ve had that chance twice already, but I’m really not going to do that, sorry,” she says in the podcast The Commandments of Slagter and Dresselhuys

Angela in drag?

Why doesn’t Angela want to be in The Masked Singer? “I certainly don’t do television against my will, but I do so very clearly with the following in mind: the AD should benefit from it. And that’s what they become when I’m on a talk show and talking about television, but not when I’m singing with a mask at The Masked Singer.”

However, she would consider Make Up Your Mind, in which celebrities dress up as drag queens. “I would say yes to that faster than to The Masked Singer, because I see in my children what the program causes.”

talk shows

Angela is on a talk show somewhere almost every week. She was also in Renze Klamer’s for the first time yesterday. There has been a lot of criticism because Renze has said that he wanted to do everything differently. “I announced you on Twitter today and I knew that too,” the presenter told her yesterday.

Angela then indicated that she had no Twitter at all. “Oh is that really the case again? Oh yeah guys, I didn’t even see it. Whatever.”

Not for myself

Why is she always on all those talk shows? Angela in the podcast: “I said yes to the newspaper’s offer to write five columns and to be visible to the outside world, so when the phone rings – even if it doesn’t suit me – I’ll be there for a while. in the evening, because that is very important for the AD. And very often it doesn’t suit me.”

It’s out of a sense of duty, she says. “Yeah, because it does mean that if I’m done at 11:30 PM or midnight, I’ll be in the cab home and then have to watch two more talk shows and then spend part of the evening watching back until 3 AM . It’s never that I have much use for it myself. †

Evening off

Sometimes Angela wishes to have a night off. “Every now and then I get the feeling that I would really like it if I got my evenings back. I really don’t work hard: my grandfather was a farmer and my other grandfather was a grocer and my father was a truck driver.”

“Those people worked hard and I sit on the couch and I watch TV programs, but the fact that you are always busy with your work from about six o’clock until you go to bed and there is no time to wind down; that breaks me sometimes.”

Angela wrote her last column of the season yesterday. She will return from vacation in a month.
