Angela de Jong strongly doubts whether she would like to have solar panels on her roof. She discusses this with her husband. “They have to be on the front of the house… I don’t think that’s very nice.”
Harm Edens sat at Eva Jinek’s talk show table yesterday to sound the alarm about climate change. “I sometimes have a discussion with the neighbours, who happily fly away. Those are not very nice conversations; they are very nice neighbors. I myself have decided that I will no longer fly,” said the presenter.
More Roman than Pope
What exactly does Angela de Jong do for the climate? “Well, the ordinary stuff. We separate our waste, but we live in Rotterdam and plastic is not even collected separately there.”
Harm then says: “You spend the whole week watching TV. You can just sit in an electric blanket and turn your heating down. You can do that, Angela de Jong.”
Angela: “I can do that, but I don’t quite do that. Yeah, you know, I’m not going to be more Catholic than the Pope here. We can really do a lot more than what we do.”
Solar panels
Then Angela reveals that she’s gotten into a spousal discussion about installing solar panels. “We’ve had a discussion for a long time about whether or not we want solar panels on our roof, but they should be on the front of the house… I don’t think that’s very nice.”
Former Lama Ruben van der Meer said: “I would like to ask: look again at those beautiful red roof tiles and think: ah dude, fuck it, solar panels on it! Life doesn’t really get any worse.”
Fire
However, Angela is also concerned about fire safety. “Then you read the newspaper of Eigen Huis and (…) there is an entire article in it that it can cause a fire.”
According to Harm, this is not the case with solar panels for the home. Still, Angela doesn’t seem convinced. She does think about an alternative solution. “I think it would be handy if you just… We live near a business park. If you can lease or rent a piece of roof there and place your solar panels there…”
strawberries
Harm is one of the most fanatical celebrities in the field of climate. He previously indicated that he was annoyed by people who buy strawberries out of season or people who eat tuna. “I have pretty bad conversations in my circle of friends. Then explode, I can’t help it.”
In addition, Harm addresses fellow celebrities about their behavior. “I heard Tim den Besten say: I have no children and I do not eat meat. So I can fly to Thailand three times a year. Well no! Because then you nullify everything you do well.”
