Angela de Jong forbids Today Inside to film her behind the scenes if she is not yet wearing make-up. “They have a knack for storming into the make-up room.”
When Today Inside starts, you will regularly see images taken behind the scenes. One is filmed while sitting on the couch, another while running and another during make-up. Well, at least they don’t have to do the latter with Angela de Jong. She explicitly does not give permission for this.
In the make-up
Angela is a vain woman, says her colleague Dennis Jansen AD Media podcast. “I understand you even put on makeup for half an hour for this podcast.”
That’s not too bad, responds the infamous AD opinion dragon. “No not at all. Just ten minutes before I left. I do that every day when I go out. But I’m not going to sit here without makeup if there are cameras on this.”
VI make-up
It is important for Angela to appear well groomed. “I would never… At VI they also have a habit of having a camera crew come in when you are in the make-up area. Wieke is always very strict about this, because Wieke believes that they should ask permission.”
Wieke Wierda is the gatekeeper of VI’s make-up area. “Under no circumstances does she want guests to be filmed. Then they won’t come in. Wieke is strict about this. Wieke is very strict. She really raised them to say: ‘You have to ask permission.’ So they always do that neatly.”
Lipstick
For that reason, Angela feels very safe with Wieke. “I don’t want it until I’m reasonably ready either. Only if I might still need to wear lipstick. I mean: there are limits to what I want to show the rest.”
Oh dear, is it all that bad? At least according to her arch-enemy Gordon. He doesn’t think Angela looks good even with makeup on. “She has a beautiful face for radio,” he sneered earlier.
