‘Angela de Jong bashs Humberto Tan because he doesn’t invite her’

Angela de Jong is only negative about Humberto Tan’s talk show because she is never allowed to sit at the table there, Rob Goossens suspects. “I think it is becoming more and more striking.”

Humberto Tan cannot do much good in the eyes of Angela de Jong. She likes him very much soft as presenter of his talk show on RTL 4 and states that he failed last weekend during his TV interview with Johnny de Mol. The AD opinion diva thinks that all the difficult questions were avoided and she is of course right about that.

Angela resentful?

RTL Boulevard face Rob Goossens, however, suspects that there is rancor. “I find it increasingly striking that Angela is now also very negative about Humberto. It is very striking that all talk shows that are guaranteed to be Angela de Jong-free, that she has a very negative opinion about it,” he says in The BLVD Podcast.

According to him, the same applies to HLF8, where Johnny de Mol is one of the presenters. His family sees her as some sort of nemesis. Angela is also often negative about that program. “Whether you will be penalized as a maker if you don’t invite Angela de Jong,” says Rob.

Fittie with Humberto

The reason that Humberto is not a fan of Angela is because she is seen as a co-cause of the fall of his former talk show RTL Late Night. They last sat together at a talk show table in February 2022, when he had to fill in for Beau van Erven Dorens and Angela happened to be on the guest list. They had good contact there.

Co-host Luuk Ikink: “It strikes me that everything that has a more cheerful slant – what Humberto has, isn’t it, because it is on Saturday evening and Sunday evening and there is a little less news and a little more [vermaak] – that it is not sharp enough for Angela. And yes, as a TV viewer myself, I think: not everything has to be super sharp all the time, hello!”

Broken interviews

Especially on Saturday evening, Rob adds. “It becomes something when Humberto Tan takes his construction lamp and then points it at his guest and then says: ‘Where were you on Tuesday morning at half past ten?’”

Luuk: “Then you don’t fully estimate what the goal of that program is. The goal is not to make a journalistic program where you are constantly sawing people in half. No, you are also just having a nice conversation with atmosphere. And atmosphere is a different kind of quality than interviewing someone completely broken.”

Hand above head

That the Boulevard camp steps into the breach for Humberto is not new. At the time of his controversial affair with Dionne Stax, the show column made itself immortal ridiculous by completely concealing his cheating, while all other media were full of it and his talk show RTL Late Night went under.

Luuk, who has worked closely with Humberto in the past, later expressed regret: “I learned quite a bit from that myself. We had just started and I thought it was quite a strange situation then, because I know Humberto very well. That was just a mistake.”

Critical column

Incidentally, the Boulevard duo’s attack comes right after Angela’s spicy column about the show section. In this she wrote that it is scandalous that Boulevard offered a stage to ‘stupid rioters like Dave Roelvink’ last week. “Media must do one thing: take their responsibility and vigorously and unequivocally contradict harmful disinformation.”

So the big question is who is really resentful here: Angela because she is not allowed to sit at the table with Humberto, or Luuk and Rob because RTL Boulevard has just received strong criticism from the AD opinion diva?

One thing is certain: about Eva Jinek, where Angela often sits at the table, she was the day before yesterday extremely critical: “At RTL, her show goes down in lightness!”
