Angela de Jong is back on track with her riot column. This time the AD tiger shark sinks its teeth into Maarten van Rossem, who refuses to make room at De Slimste Mens.
Maarten van Rossem always pretends to be averse to media attention, but he has already been mercilessly exposed by media critic Victor Vlam. He has in his podcast proved that the jury member of De Slimste Mens is extremely ‘media horny’. “I never believed anything about the fact that Maarten didn’t want to be on television.”
A bit sad
And it does indeed seem to be true. Maarten has always said that he would quit De Slimste if his colleague Philip Freriks were to leave, but now that Philip has announced his departure, he refuses to resign at the same time. He sticks to his jury chair like a fresh tube of Kukident. And that people criticize that? Crazy, he thinks.
Angela de Jong is now really starting to get a bit annoyed by Maarten’s attitude, she writes in it A.D. “What makes it a bit sad is that Maarten probably really fears that he will soon have to make way for a bleached-blonde young thing. And that he never receives public support.”
Something tragic
It is unbelievable that someone like Maarten cares so much about critics like Johan Derksen who call on him to vacate his TV seat, says Angela. “There’s something tragic about it. Eighty now, completely independent in thoughts and actions (according to himself) and yet so concerned with what is being said about him on riot websites and social media.”
She concludes: “’Get over it, man,’ I shouted at the screen for the second time on Wednesday. Otherwise it will be twenty very long years.”
