Angela de Jong and her male equivalent Victor Vlam strongly doubt Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s denial that he grabbed someone by the throat. Is he a joker?
BNNVARA boss Suzanne Kunzeler says it without any reservations: according to her, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk grabbed someone by the throat and pushed them against the wall. And for that reason, the presenter was suspended by RTL boss Peter van der Vorst after a long weekend of doubts. The presenter himself denies everything.
Matthijs jokkebrok?
Angela de Jong and Victor Vlam, who are among the most influential media critics in our country, think Matthijs is a joke. “Suzanne Kunzeler is also sticking her neck out with that, right? Her head is now also on the chopping block, because she is director of VARA and cannot simply shout this,” she says at the desk of RTL Boulevard.
According to Angela, it says enough that Matthijs does not take any action against Suzanne. “If it is not right, attach consequences to it. Keep in mind that Suzanne Kunzeler does this for a reason. Her position is also at stake,” said the opinion diva. Her newspaper, the AD, states that former DWDD employees recognize the throat grabbing incident.
The tie
Former criminal lawyer Bram Moszkowicz, like Angela, finds it remarkable that Matthijs does not take Suzanne to court. “That may be because he is given wrong advice, but it may also be that he has something to hide and that is why he does not do it. Then he knows that something is coming that is not yet there, but which will kill him,” he says Show news.
Victor Vlam thinks that is indeed the case. He says on the talk show Van Roosmalen & Groenteman: “If Matthijs van Nieuwkerk denies certain things, I don’t find that super credible, if I’m honest.”
Unbelievable
You cannot trust Matthijs, says Victor. “We are not 100 percent sure whether he pulled someone over, but we do know that many people who worked at De Wereld Draait Door have said that, so I find it completely unbelievable that it did not happen.”
What does Victor think of the letter who wrote the fallen DWDD host? “It’s a way to induce self-pity again. He lashed out at your bosses, the BNNVARA management, who allegedly acted carelessly. The problem is: the public is not going to accept that Matthijs is showing self-pity there.”
Relieved
What does Matthijs’ former make-up artist Jelleke van Rijliefde, the spokesperson for the DWDD victims, think of the fact that he has now been suspended by RTL? She says in RTL Boulevard: “I have been in contact with former DWDD members today, everyone I spoke to is relieved. RTL’s decision is the only correct one.”
She thinks it is a shame that RTL only acted after a commotion arose. “What strikes me in RTL’s statement is that they say that the timing is not good now. It would have been better if RTL had made the choice based on the many serious accusations against Matthijs.”
