It is incredibly painful how Johan Derksen went off during his TV fight with Angela de Jong. The football connoisseur is known for being very unreasonable when it comes to his employer John de Mol and his family, and Angela fell victim to that this week. He pretended she was smearing son Johnny.

Angela responds

The arguments Johan came up with were so bizarrely weak that even presenter Wilfred Genee was forced to intervene. After all, his behavior does not benefit the credibility of their program Today Inside. A day after his slip, Johan went through the dust: “Yes, it was my fault. I was unclear. I was just unclear.”

How does Angela look back on this? The opinion diva of the AD tells it in the talk show Race on Saturday: “Johan had already announced that he was going to call me to order in this broadcast, so I was prepared, but my most important preparation was: stay calm, stay calm.”

Biggest pitfall

Angela does not want to get angry on television. “My biggest pitfall is that I get angry and then I get excited and that’s not fun to watch and with a woman you always have that the voice starts to skip, so then you lose it completely. Ehm, I think I stayed pretty calm, but you can see that I was boiling inside.”

How did that happen? “I can do very badly… I mean: I am very critical of John de Mol, of that whole The Voice case, of the role of Linda who may have been in it, of how Peter Gillis is being held up as a folk hero. (…) But about Johnny de Mol, of whom Johan accused me of having declared him guilty: I did not do that.”

Attempted manslaughter

Johan curiously blames Angela for writing that Johnny was reported aggravated assault and attempted manslaughter. However, that is simply a fact that has been mentioned by virtually all news media. “Anyway: I understood that Johan is not allowed to do that, but then he is out of luck, because that is allowed.”

Has she had any contact with the somewhat absent-minded VI star? “I have no… I never have with him. But this is often the case with VI. You have a vigorous discussion and then you go back to the order of the day. He does and so do I. I think society should do that more often.”

She concludes: “This is what it is, he blames me for something, I let him know it isn’t and so be it. Then we talked about all the other topics.”
