Andy van der Meijde closes the season with dredging figures: ‘Not good’

The TV season is over for Andy van der Meijde: yesterday both his reality soap Andy & Melisa and his talk show Veronica Offside experienced the last episode. “It doesn’t score well at all.”

Andy van der Meijde was suddenly put forward very prominently this fall as TV personality of Talpa. Not only could he be seen twice a week as a football analyst in Veronica Offside, but he could also be seen – opposite ‘VO’ – with a new season of his reality series Andy & Melisa.

Petty thief Andy

Both programs have been great successes and the season finales are also major flops. Only 179 thousand viewers watched Andy & Melisa yesterday (3 percent market share) and Veronica Offside had 183 thousand (3 percent). This makes Andy officially the petty thief of television land. “Not all that good,” says viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp.

Andy himself hoped that he would finally break through as a TV personality, because he wants nothing more than to be a kind of René van der Gijp. Unfortunately for him, his TV adventure seems short-lived.

The Masked Singer

The big winner on prime time yesterday was The Masked Singer with 2.1 million viewers (39 percent) on RTL 4, followed by Twee voor Twaalf with 1.1 million viewers (21 percent) on NPO 2.

NPO 1 takes bronze with Dream House Wanted (775 thousand and 14 percent) and then Today Inside comes into play with 710 thousand viewers (14 percent) for SBS 6.

Eva waves off

After The Masked Singer, Eva Jinek managed to keep 864 thousand viewers (24 percent) with her season finale. She also responded to the misconduct of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk in the broadcast.

Eva: “Well, it’s not fun to read. Certainly not. I don’t think you wish anyone to be humiliated like that at work. Simply wherever you work or whatever you do. You also see the duality. It’s hard to believe that a program that we all love and like so much that this is the back end.”
