Andreas Wellinger takes the next podium place

Andreas Wellinger is still in top ski jumping form. One day after his hill record, the German made it onto the podium again in the individual event.

Germany’s best ski jumper Andreas Wellinger finished the first competition after the Four Hills Tournament in third place. The 28-year-old Bavarian jumped 131 and 128.5 meters on Sunday in Wisla, Poland and was only beaten by the top duo of winner Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan and Stefan Kraft from Austria.

It was Kobayashi’s first individual victory this winter. On the tour, four second places were enough for him to win the title. The day before, Wellinger had set a hill record with 144.5 meters in the super team competition.

Behind the Olympic champion, there are currently no other world-class athletes in national coach Stefan Horngacher’s team. Karl Geiger took tenth place, Pius Paschke didn’t get past 17th place. Both athletes had already won the individual competitions in the World Cup before Christmas.
