Andreas Seidl, who piloted McLaren for the last few years, is defecting to the leadership position of Audi’s future F1 team.
The Speedcafe website tells Andreas Seidlin leaving his position as McLaren’s team manager.
According to the website, Seidl is heading to Sauber, which means he will be Valtteri Bottas new boss
Sauber will be known as Alfa Romeo for a while, but from the 2026 season it will be the factory garage of the German car giant Audi. Seidl, who previously worked for Porsche, which belongs to the same VW group, is going to be attached as the leader of Audi’s F1 project.
Seidl, washed for McLaren in 2019, enjoys appreciation in the formula pit. He managed to stabilize the operations of the former powerhouse after years of under-performing. Among other things, he led Porsche to three victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Seidl’s move is the latest addition to F1’s post-season line-up of team bosses Silly season. Mattia Binotto left his duties to Ferrari. His replacement is rumored to be Alfa Romeo’s current boss Frederic Vasseurwhose place will be taken by Seidl.
On Monday, Williams announced who led the team Jost Capito and by Francois Xavier-Demaison having left his position.
