Andreas Mies/Kevin Krawietz meet US duo

The German tennis pros Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz meet the Americans Mackenzie McDonald/Marcos Giron in the first round of the doubles competition at the US Open, according to the draw.

The two-time Grand Slam tournament winners would meet the winner of the duel Soonwoo Kwon/Ilya Ivashka (South Korea/Belarus) against Robin Hase/Philipp Oswald (Netherlands/Austria) if they were successful in the second round.

Tim Pütz also has a chance of winning the title in New York. The 34-year-old from Frankfurt will start with the Australian Michael Venus in fourth place. The duo meets Andrey Golubev/Petro Martinez (Kazakhstan/Spain) at the start.

In the women’s race, the Williams sisters Serena and Venus start their double comeback against the Czechs Lucie Hradecka/Linda Noskova.

The Americans, who have won 14 Grand Slam tournaments in doubles together, are back together on the pitch for the first time since the 2018 French Open thanks to a wildcard.

For Serena Williams (40), the US Open is most likely the last tournament of her career.
