After the first relegation in eleven years, the traditional club FC Admira Wacker Wien parted ways with head coach Andreas Herzog on Monday.
The club from the capital took sixth and last place in the Bundesliga qualifying round after a 3-1 defeat at Linzer ASK.
“We have come to the conclusion that a change in the coaching position is the best solution for the club,” said sporting director Marcel Ketelaer, a former Bundesliga professional with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburger SV.
The 53-year-old Herzog was a Bundesliga player with Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich under contract. As a coach, the former midfielder looked after the national team of Israel from 2018 to 2020.
