Andrea Kiewel accounts for the “Tagesschau”.

From the BZ editorial team

TV star Andrea Kiewel (58) describes herself as a ZDF presenter “with all her heart” and as an “ardent advocate of the necessity of public television”. She has been presenting the “ZDF TV Garden” for 23 years now.

But in a guest article for the “Jewish GeneralKiewel now settles accounts with her news colleagues from ARD. Kiewel even writes that she “could not use the word ‘colleagues’ in this context.”

Reason for the settlement: the ARD reporting on the explosion at a hospital in Gaza.

ARD managers “deaf to all ears”

On Tuesday evening, the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas claimed that Israel had killed at least 500 people in an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza. But just a few hours later it was clear: there was no evidence of an Israeli air strike. No evidence of 500 deaths.

24 hours after the hospital explosion in Gaza, all of this was known. But the “Tagesschau” acted as if there was still one statement against the other and left out important facts.

“Those responsible for ARD’s main news programs were deaf to everyone’s ears,” writes the TV star in the guest article.

How on earth…

Kiewel, who lives in Tel Aviv and was also there on October 7th, is stunned: “HOW on earth can the editorial team of the most important and best-known news programs on German television use terrorist propaganda as a source? HOW on earth can anyone take even one letter from the mouth of a beastly terrorist organization at face value?”

“Butchers, murderers, beasts are not a source”

Kiewel does not want to accuse anyone of bad intentions or naivety.

But the editors should “once and for all write the following behind their ears, in the palms of their hands and stick post-its to their computer screens with exactly the following sentence: ‘Terrorists, butchers, murderers, beasts, hostage takers are not a source. Never!'”

And further: “This is not a request. That’s an attitude. A creed. That’s exactly what it’s all about now. NOW!”
