André Rieu was completely shocked by a headline in the Volkskrant. He has deployed his network to get his name off the website. “That happened within a minute.”
Yesterday De Volkskrant published a extended profile about some musical pervert: Pieter Jan Leusink. Because the masses do not know him, the newspaper described him in the headline as ‘the André Rieu of the Baroque’. The headline in question (completely: ”André Rieu of the Baroque’ stumbles over #MeToo affair’) shocked André Rieu to death.
Andre angry
André does not want to be associated with MeToo at all and feared that fast readers would think that he himself ended up in a dirty MeToo case. His son Pierre therefore contacted Albert Verlinde. “Pierre Rieu sent me a message and it says: ‘There is something on the Volkskrant site.’”
Albert immediately went to look, he tells in Shownieuws. “It was in quotes, but that still makes it seem like some sort of reference, like his father had ever had a MeToo condition and the like. He says: ‘Do you know people at de Volkskrant? Because I actually want that to go off that site.’”
head off
Fortunately, Albert knew immediately who to text. “I think: who should I have then? Coincidentally, I have the editor-in-chief’s number and I just messaged him and forwarded the message from Pierre.”
Presenter Airen Mylene: “Yes, because if you read it quickly…”
De Volkskrant immediately changed the headline. Albert: “Yes, very nice. De Volkskrant immediately, really within a minute, changed it. De Volkskrant acted very well and quickly.”
