Monique Westenberg reveals that her sweetheart André Hazes Jr. was indeed hoping for more evenings in Ahoy. “I think he had hoped that it would naturally go faster or more.”
What a disgrace it was: André Hazes Jr. only managed to fill his concert last month by putting tickets on sale at Holiday Auctions. They were just not in the 1 euro bin at the Kruidvat. Very sad of course, but the folk singer continued to play beautifully in front of the camera. Well, he really hoped for more…
André wanted more
André is down-to-earth about it in his real-life soap. “I said in advance: whether it will be a success or not, I’d rather do the way it is now… Because Ahoy is not sold out… I’d rather do just one, but in my own way, than if I could do four or five, but again in the way others want. I really mean that from the bottom of my heart.”
His sweetheart Monique Westenberg reveals that André certainly hoped for more. “I think he had hoped that it would of course go faster or more, that there would be another one, but I think he is dealing with it well.”
Grumpy
Monique thinks that André used to go crazy because of the poor ticket sales. “In the past he wouldn’t have been able to deal with it, he would have become completely overwrought and grumpy and do crazy things, but he doesn’t have that anymore. I think he is already proud of everything he sells now and that he is happy that he has new opportunities.”
André then says: “Of course you hope that everything will immediately become gold or sell out immediately, that’s your ego talking, but if I really talk from my heart, I’m happy that I’m finally following my own feelings.”
‘Does not interest me’
André claims that it doesn’t bother him at all. “Look, the single isn’t going well. I’m being played on the radio now, well, that’s never happened to me in my life, and all the other people saying: ‘It’s not going well or it’s not what people expect.’ Sincerely: I don’t really care, because for the first time I am doing what I like.”
His sweetheart: “I don’t really understand why it is said: he doesn’t have a hit, because what is a hit? There also seems to be a bit of boycotting and people quickly become negative. I think it is also because they are not used to him making this kind of music.”
