André Hazes jr. no longer a hit in Belgium: ‘Very low viewing figures’

André Hazes jr. is no longer a hit with our southern neighbors. His docusoap is hardly watched on Flemish television, says viewing figure oracle Tina Nijkamp. “These are really mediocre ratings.”

Many of the sleaze and dirt our stars are much less widely reported in Flanders. For example, they only found out much later that Glennis Grace was a species with us persona non grata has become. But what about André Hazes jr., whose comeback in the Netherlands is really failing completely?

Popular in Belgium?

RTL Boulevard pretended yesterday that it is still being embraced in Belgium. Presenter Vivienne van den Assem: “With a flopped song and tickets for the shows that are far from sold out, it seems that the popularity of André Hazes has fallen to freezing point. In the Netherlands that is, because in Belgium the singer is still as popular as ever.”

Voice-over Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte then agrees: “Although people in the Netherlands are now a little tired of Hazes, Dré is still immensely popular with our southern neighbors. He is therefore often a guest in TV programs there.”

Horror ratings

But someone who is so incredibly popular in Belgium must also score high viewing figures, right? André’s docusoap, which can be seen in our country on Videoland, is simply broadcast on television in our southern neighbours. Is that documentary there in the viewing figures top 5? No. The top 10 maybe? Top 15? Also not. Top 20 then? Not yet.

Viewing figures scholar Tina Nijkamp is in shock. “The documentary about André Hazes, Crossroads, premiered in Belgium on VTM2 on Tuesday, say RTL5 from there. How did it score in Belgium? Mwoah. Very mediocre. It’s not in the top 20 most watched TV shows there. So unfortunately. Not a resounding success yet.”

Not even 100 thousand

How many people watched? Tina follows up on her ratings channel: “In total, 99,251 people watched VTM2 from 9:50 p.m. And only 8.1 percent market share. And that’s not much, not even for VTM2. Previous titles such as Villa South Africa and De Vuilste Jobs scored around 180 thousand viewers on that slot.”

She continues: “Oops. Not good viewing news for André. Not a good score in the commercial target group aged 20 to 54 either: market share 6.5 percent.”

Poor ticket sales

Meanwhile, ticket sales for André’s comeback concert are still very bad. There seems to be panic in camp André, because he has now announced a repertoire turn. He is going to sing the folk songs he hated so much with which he has become famous. But isn’t Ahoy just aiming too high in 2023?

His sister Roxeanne Hazes seems to have a little more sense of reality. She sticks to Paradiso-like halls, she said this week in RTL Boulevard. “I would love to be in an AFAS or Ziggo Dome one day, but I am very realistic. I am not that big. haha. You know. So I think that remains a dream. Maybe ever.”
