André Hazes Jr. makes NPO Radio 1: ‘Failed by drunk dad?’

André Hazes Jr. is a psychopath because his father was drunk during conception. At least, that’s what the men of the Nare Jongens podcast say. But is it right? NPO Radio 1 found out.

What a screaming Rachel Hazes can cause… After her tirade against daughter Roxeanne, she sought help from her son André, who then posted a full statement of support to his mother online. As a result, he is in the news again, but in a negative way. And all that Hazes stuff now even makes it NPO Radio 1.

Drinking baby André

The reason? André has been extensively discussed in the Nare Jongens podcast. Journalist Bas Paternotte calls the folk singer a ‘psychopath’. Co-host Jan Dijkgraaf then: “No, of course it is not good. You do know that men and women are advised not to drink if they are planning to have children?”

André was probably conceived during heavy intoxication, according to Jan. “There has never been a day in André Hazes senior’s life that he did not drink. The chance that André Hazes senior could father normal children, given his behavior with alcohol, was very small.”

Fact check on Radio 1

In fact, according to Jan André is lucky that he did not get a block head. “There’s a syndrome in the Eastern Bloc too, isn’t there? They seem to have those block heads there and that syndrome children get if their parents were drunk during conception.”

Is this all right? EenVandaag journalist Lammert de Bruin has a whole fact check organized and it was extensively discussed on NPO Radio 1. “Lammert, I must say: an original topic today”, said presenter Pieter Jan Hagens.

Blockheads

Lammert then introduces the subject. “Yes, the Nare Jongens podcast by Bas Paternotte and Jan Dijkgraaf discussed the most recent perils of the Hazes family and there are quite a few.”

He continues: “In that conversation it is said that the chance that André Hazes senior could father normal children is very small, given his behavior with alcohol. Children could even get block heads if their parents are drunk at conception.”

‘Fictional for now’

Gynecologist Ruud Bekkers, fertility doctor Grada van den Dool and Ninette van Hasselt of the Trimbos Institute have been interviewed, but none of them can confirm. “It is difficult to give some men alcohol and some not and then look at the end to see which men have a disabled child, yes or no,” says Grada.

So there is simply no research done. Lammert: “Grada van den Dool also said that alcohol consumption lowers the overall quality of the semen anyway and therefore reduces the chance of pregnancy. In other words: it is a miracle that we got Dré Hazes junior.”

The conclusion of the fact check is that Jan’s claim about drunkenness during conception is ‘for now fiction’. “Because that cannot be investigated.”
