The keys to the Ford Mustang, which is the prize car at the Paavo Nurmi Games, are already burning in the pocket of spear star Anderson Peters.
World champion in javelin throwing Anderson Peters24, enjoys a shiny surface and a hard ride.
– I love speed. I’m an Audi man because I have an A5 Cabriolet. It gets you really fast from one place to another, says Peters, who lives in Grenada.
Paavo Nurmi Games will offer a fully electric SUV Ford Mustang Mach-E on Tuesday if the winner of the men’s spear race hits Aki Parviainen SE readings 93.09.
– It would be a really big deal for me, because I enjoy so many fast cars, Peters shouts.
The car keys are already burning in your pocket, as a reading in a suitable headwind is possible for a man who has been robbed this season.
– It would be cool to take a car like that home. But: when there’s such a hard reward, you start thinking about it, and it’s not a good thing at all. Mustang will come if there is to come. I try not to think about it.
CEO of PNG Jari Salonen promises to own the Mustang.
– In such cases, it is often the case that the athlete negotiates with his manager a prize money worth the goods, Salonen explains.
Peters underlined that he wanted a car.
– Then we have to start finding out a suitable supplier, if the car goes to Grenada, an experienced race organizer laughs.
The selling price of the Ford Mustang Mach-E in Finland starts at EUR 58,990.
In the winning streak
Roni Lehti
Peters slammed his record in Doha in May. Last week, the Dutch Hengelo went 90.75.
– There was a pretty strong headwind in Doha. It certainly helped. But Hengelo’s weather was not good.
Peters has won all seven of his races this season.
– Feels really good. I try to keep the winning streak all season. I’m certainly a better shooter than in the World Cup gold year 2019. Physics and technology are better, but the experience is the best teacher.
Peters became the world champion from the bush in the desert. He threw 86.89.
– I had an injury to my left knee before the World Cup and it got worse in the finals. The knee was cut a few days after the final. 2020 was an interim year due to knee surgery and corona. Last season I was in pain with my self-confidence when I wasn’t sure if my knee would last. Now everything is fine.
Increase mobility
AOP
Peters dropped out of the Olympic finals in Tokyo last summer after qualifying, until the end of 2021, when the man caught on to the plot. Among other things, the winner of the Paris Diamond League competition won the CV.
– I have gained more strength when I can train properly after a knee injury. Now it feels like the body is quite compact: there is enough power and momentum.
He has avoided the worst troubles of the javelin thrower: the shoulder and elbow are intact.
– We’ve done a lot of work with my coach to keep my shoulder in shape. It will be strengthened as much as possible, Peters comments.
– Otherwise I am happy with my situation, but I need more mobility. I’m a stiff man. Mobility is the theme of the next training season, he continues.
One hundred as a sieve
EPA / AOP
The award car alone will not fill your stomach this season.
– I could possibly set a world record if the conditions are optimal.
Even at the time of his World Cup gold, the Caribbean could not even imagine breaking Jan Zeleznyn ME figures 98.48.
– Johannes Vetterin 97.76 was absolutely marvelous in 2020. Everyone was in shock when he threw so far at the windless stadium. That accomplishment changed my thinking. Sounds crazy, but ME and even 100 meters crossing are possible.
