Anderlecht qualifies for play-offs with a win over Kortrijk

Anderlecht is the fourth club in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League to qualify for the play-offs. The team of coach Vincent Kompany won with some difficulty 3-2 against Kortrijk and thus stayed ahead of number 5 KAA Gent.

Gent won 5-0 against OH Leuven, but has 2 points less than Anderlecht, which even passed FC Antwerp in the ranking. The club from Brussels qualifies, just like before, leader Union, defending champion Club Brugge and FC Antwerp for the play-offs.

Anderlecht still fell behind. Trent Sainsbury converted a penalty in the 20th minute on behalf of the home side. Joshua Zirkzee equalized 5 minutes later. After the break, Anouar Ait El Hadj put Anderlecht at 2-1. His first shot was blocked, but in the rebound it was hit. Christian Kouamé scored the third goal 5 minutes later on a pass from Zirkzee. Bryan Reynolds brought the tension back with the 3-2. Faïz Selemani was even close to the equalizer. His corner hit the post, but Anderlecht held out.

KAA Gent did what it had to do to have a chance of reaching the play-offs. Julien De Sart and Tarik Tissoudali had taken the 2-0 lead. In the final phase, Andrew Hjulsager scored and then the Amsterdam-born Moroccan Tissoudali two more times.
