Anderlecht captures grandson of club icon Paul Van Himst

Anderlecht have captured the grandson of club icon Paul Van Himst. 17-year-old Amando Lapage signed a contract with ‘Purple-White’ until the summer of 2024 and then posed for the photographer with his famous grandfather. Lapage has been part of Anderlecht’s youth academy since he was 7 years old and this season plays in both the Under 18 and Under 21.

“Amando was gradually transformed from a midfielder to a defender, a position in which he can still surprise people,” said Jean Kindermans, head of the youth academy. “He already has strong jumping power, anticipation and a good pass and still has an interesting margin for improvement.” Lapage will compete in the main force with, among others, Wesley Hoedt and Ajax mercenary Lisandro Magallán.

His grandfather Van Himst played for Anderlecht for most of his career. The attacker was eight times champion of Belgium. Van Himst, now 78, scored 233 goals in 457 matches for Anderlecht.
