The face suddenly turns chalky white, then violent vomiting follows as if out of nowhere: Another wave of infections in children, triggered by gastrointestinal viruses, is based on the current disease process with the human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the flu and corona still on top!

The noro virus causes severe abdominal cramps that develop quickly and quickly lead to severe vomiting.

“Infection with the virus is short and severe,” says pediatrician Dr. Martin Karsten (62) from Wilmersdorf. “It’s also extremely contagious. It’s not just a smear infection, it’s also spread through the air via droplets.”

Two days stop the intermittent handover. During this time, Karsten recommends tea with electrolytes or apple juice by the spoonful, then banana, rusk, apple.

The infection also invades other age groups. The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) has counted 386 infections since the beginning of October. A large part of the diseases is not recorded, however, because there is no doctor contact and no proof.

There were eleven outbreaks in community facilities. Five of them in hospitals (a total of 53 cases), five in nursing homes for the elderly (a total of 142 cases) and one outbreak in a kindergarten (4 cases).
