The film follows the court trial of a woman suspected of killing her husband in their chalet in the French Alps. The film also won the Palme d’Or earlier this year, the most important prize of the Cannes film festival, and now also has a good chance of winning an Oscar next year. “Now that we are in the race, we will of course continue on that path,” director Triet said in a response.
The 36th ceremony of the most important European film awards took place in Berlin. Also Fallen Leaves, GreenBorder and Me Captain and The Zone of Interest were nominated in the best film category. The award for best actor went to Mads Mikkelsen (The Promised Land).
There were no Dutch contenders in the prize rain. Sweet Dreams by director Ena Sendijarević was the Dutch entry, but was not nominated.
