Analyzing via camera after two seasons of test run at KM Torhout

The system is now ready after two seasons of trial run. It comes from a company from Wingene, which also wants to work with it outside of football. Howest students are also collaborating on it.

In the Velodroom, the stadium of KM Torhout, there are eight fully automatic cameras, with which the club can film and analyze matches and training sessions. The big teams are already doing it, but they also want to make progress in amateur football.

“After the matches, or during the training sessions, we can get to work with that. Can we offer players corrections, solutions, but also show good moments, so that images say much more than words – can learn from them. We see it as a positive model, and we are also going to work with it positively, especially with young players.”

During the match or training you can indicate a certain game phase on a tablet, that’s called tagging. Torhout has been serving as a guinea pig for the system for two seasons. And that is now on point. Coincidence or not, last season they were promoted to second amateur.
