You rarely hear Donald Trump say about opponents that they are “smart and capable people.” The fact that he did so after the first primary in Iowa is bad news for all those who hope he will not win. After all, it means that he is no longer afraid of his pursuers. Rightly so. As things stand, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley can no longer threaten him.
