Anadolu Efes lost 87-80 at home to Spanish representative Baskonia in the 16th week of the THY Europa League.
While Anadolu Efes started the match 4-0 with 2 consecutive baskets, Baskonia made a 7-0 streak and brought the score to 4-7.
While the score reached 12-15 with mutual points in the remaining part of the quarter, Anadolu Efes took the lead 17-15 in the last part with Erten Gazi’s layup and Daum’s 3-point shot.
The Spanish representative equalized the score with Moneke’s basket, and the first period ended with a score of 17-17.
Anadolu Efes started the 2nd quarter with Oturu’s 2-point field goal. While the difference increased to 5 points with Larkin’s 3-point basket, Baskonia made the score 22-24 with a 7-0 run, as in the first period. The dark blue-white team took the lead 30-26 with an 8-2 run after the television timeout.
While the rest of the period was spent with mutual baskets, when Anadolu Efes used the foul right early, the Spanish representative brought the score to 36-36 with the points he scored from the free throw line. Larkin scored his 3,000th point in the THY Europa League with his 15th point in the match.
Baskonia started the last quarter by scoring two three-point shots: 60-63. The first 4-minute part was passed with mutual points and the score was tied at 68-68. The Spanish team went through the section where Howard was especially effective with his outside shots, with a 15-4 series, and reached the highest margin of the match: 72-83.
Although Anadolu Efes tried to close the gap in the remaining time, Baskonia left the court with a 87-80 victory.
With this result, Anadolu Efes suffered its 9th defeat in its 16th match, while Baskonia achieved its 9th victory.
The dark blue-whites will host Fenerbahçe Beko in the next Europa League match.
