Spoon breads decorate the festive table and are delicious for everyone.
The secret of the taste of traditional spoon breads is in the roasted butter, which gives the cookies a wonderful taste. Spoon breads are suitable for all parties, and they are easy to bake well in advance. You should leave only sugaring for the day of celebration.
Spoon breads
200 g of butter
1.5 dl of sugar
4 dl wheat flour
1 teaspoon of soda
1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar
raspberry jam or marmalade
For surface:
fine sugar
1. Heat the butter in a pot and let it boil on low heat for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. When the foam subsides and the butter browns, take the pot off the stove and add sugar. Let cool without stirring.
2. Mix the dry ingredients together and add to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix the dough until smooth.
3. Press the dough into a teaspoon and pull the dough from the spoon onto the baking paper. The easiest design is with teaspoons as deep as possible.
4. Bake the spoon breads at 175 degrees for about 12 minutes or until they have a nice color.
5. Assemble the spoonbreads by spreading the jam on one cookie and press the other side on top.
6. Roll the spoonbread in sugar.
REMEMBER
Apple marmalade or fresh lemon curd is also a good filling for spoon breads.
