A climate activist stuck his head to the glass covering the world-famous painting ‘The girl of the pearl’ in a museum in The Hague. Fortunately, the artwork was not damaged, according to museum staff.
A second activist taped his hand to the wall next to the 1665 painting by the Dutch master Johannes Vermeer and an unidentified liquid was released, the Mauritshuis museum said.
A video on social media showed two men near the painting, both wearing T-shirts that said “Just Stop Oil.”
“The police were notified and three people were arrested. Our restorer inspected the condition of the painting. Fortunately, the glass-covered masterpiece was not damaged“said the museum.

The protest came less than two weeks after “Just Stop Oil” activists threw soup on the painting “The Sunflowers” by Vincent van Gogh at the National Gallery in London. That painting was also protected by glass.
In Dutch museum videos released Thursday, one of the men says: “How do you feel when you see something beautiful and priceless seemingly destroyed before your very eyes?”
