Schumer had indirectly called the actress inhumane via social media. That didn’t go down well.
Comedian Amy Schumer has sparked a shitstorm on the Internet. The reason: She made fun of Nicole Kidman’s way of sitting on social media. Her own fans then criticized Schumer.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Schumer shared a picture of the Oscar-winning actress. Nicole Kidman can be seen sitting in the stands at the US Open tennis tournament. Apparently, Schumer found Kidman’s way of sitting very strange and commented ironically: “That’s how a person sits.”
Amy Schumer’s fans are disappointed, and they react defiantly
The implication that Kidman was a human-mimicking alien or something similar did not go over well with Schumer’s fans. “It is beneath you to hurt another woman’s feelings,” it said in the comments section of Schumer’s post. “You’re trying to cover up your own insecurities about your looks by putting other women down,” criticized another comment.
Amy Schumer responded to the cyberbullying allegations with a post that was also deleted. It said: “I would like to apologize to all the people I have hurt by Nicole Kidman’s photo and the implication that she is an alien. “I’m going to ask the cast of ‘The Roaring ’70s’ show to write letters for me asking for my forgiveness.” The last sentence was a reference to Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who wrote in an attempt to to defend her ex-colleague Danny Masterson, who has since been convicted of two counts of rape.
It is not yet known how Nicole Kidman reacted to the scandal. An acquaintance of hers simply hinted to the British “Dailey Mail” that “for her the whole thing is just silly” and “it doesn’t affect her.”
