Not a fan of summer? Then you should take a look across the provincial border in Appelscha. At the Duinen Zathe amusement park, they have put on the naughty snowshoes and are already celebrating Christmas.
On the roof of the entrance to the park is a giant doll of Santa Claus. Upon entering there is another one that is accompanied by a polar bear. It is clear, the employees are looking forward to a Christmas party and they want to show it. “We were in a bit of a crazy mood and then someone shouted: why don’t we organize a Christmas party during the summer? That’s how the ball started rolling,” laughs general manager Judith Nijkamp.
Until next Sunday, people can enjoy the Christmas party at the park. Employees wear a Christmas hat, there is an ice skating rink and snow is even blown into the air with a machine. “It has to look a bit real, of course,” continues Nijkamp. “We still sell hot chocolate, donuts and rolls with whipped cream.”
