Amsterdam Pirates takes revenge for shame, HCAW clear in first weekend

Amsterdam Pirates cleaned up last Thursday’s hangover against RCH. The reigning Dutch champion then gave up 23 runs in one inning and lost 24-18 to the baseball players from Heemstede. Yesterday Amsterdam waltzed 3-23 over RCH and today a sovereign victory was also recorded: 0-6.

The feelings of revenge at Pirates were huge after last Thursday’s disgrace. The team of Ronald Jaarsma, who had his baptism of fire against RCH, completely relinquished an 18-1 lead in the last inning. In the seventh inning, the team got no less than 23 points against and so still went down against the PhD student. On Saturday, Pirates played in order with the 3-23 and today they also won easily: 0-6.

HCAW had a good opening weekend with two victories against Hoofddorp Pioniers: 4-9 and 3-0. With that, the baseball-players from Bussum are in second place behind Neptunus, which was the only one to win all three games. DSS/Kinheim, which lost all encounters with Neptunus, is bottom of the big league, along with Hoofddorp Pioniers.
