Amsterdam law firm Houthoff severs ties with Russia

The Amsterdam law firm Houthoff, located on the Zuidas, is severing all ties with Russia. This can be read in a statement on the website of the office.

“Due to the acts of war committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Houthoff has decided to sever relations with the Russian Federation as well as associated persons and companies,” the office writes. The office represents, among other things, the interests of Gazprom in the Netherlands.

Earlier this week, the Amsterdam dean Henrichs appealed to lawyers in his district to: to be ‘increased vigilance’ on Russian clients who may want to evade sanctions. The dean also encouraged offices to re-check ties with potential Russian clients. Houthoff has therefore done this and has come to the conclusion to sever ties with Russia.
