After a period of twelve years, Zaid el Morabiti puts an end to his time at ASV Lebo. He announced this to the Amsterdam futsal club yesterday. “I made this decision with pain in my heart, because I had a very nice time here.”
Anyone who thinks of Lebo also quickly thinks of Zaid el Morabiti. He played for the Amsterdam-West club for eight seasons and has been the coach for the last four years. “It was a surprise for the club, only I noticed that I was standing still in my development as a trainer. Everyone understood my decision.” As a player, the 38-year-old from Amsterdam won the national title and super cup. He did this as captain in 2016.
“I want to play for the prizes”

“At Lebo last season I got energy from the fact that we give many youth the chance at the highest level,” El Morabiti tells NH Sport. “Only I really want to play for the prizes. That is quite difficult because we lose our best players every season.” This season, the futsal coach already combined his work at Lebo with a role as an assistant with the Dutch team. “I learn a lot from this. National coach Miguel Andrés Moreno is really a top trainer and I noticed that I pick up a lot from him when we are on the road with international periods.”

‘inspire’
“In addition, I want to spend more time giving my ‘Dare to dream’ workshops. Inspiring young people that you can achieve anything if you just believe in it. I also teach physical education in the classroom and I also have a family with young children.”
El Morabiti just finishes the season at Lebo. The premier league of futsal has now reached part two of the season. The team from Amsterdam are in the championship pool and are in fourth place. “We are currently in a small slump, but I expect that we will eventually compete with the top teams.” On Friday, Lebo will visit FC Eindhoven.
