An employee of the Albert Heijn at the Maalderij in Amstelveen was slightly injured last night when he tried to stop an armed robber, the police reported. The robber had just reached into the cash register.
An – at first glance – customer of the supermarket enters the supermarket around 9:50 p.m. last night. He waits patiently at the service desk until an employee comes to help him. When the staff member stands in front of him, he threatens the employee with a knife. In response, he opens the cash drawer and takes out money.
When the robber wants to flee, another employee tries to stop him. In vain, the perpetrator wounds him and runs off. “Fortunately, he was only slightly injured,” said the police spokesman. “There was no need for an ambulance.”
To give evidence
The police searched the area around the Maalderij last night, but were unable to arrest a suspect. To find the robber, the police are looking for witnesses. The employees describe the robber as a man with a goatee, about 20 years old and 1.75 meters tall. He was wearing a gray hoodie, sunglasses and dark colored pants.
