Amrabat is not (yet) an alternative to Rice

FC Bayern is intensifying its search for new alternatives for central defensive midfield positions. Desired player should still be Declan Rice from West Ham United, who could, however, cost an extremely high transfer fee of over 100 million euros. Therefore, other personal details are always coming into focus. One of them is Sofyan Amrabat.

The midfielder from AC Florence is also said to have been discussed on Säbener Straße. Amrabat is one of the World Cup heroes of the Moroccan national team that sensationally advanced to the semi-finals at last year’s World Cup in Qatar.

His name has recently been used several times in connection with FC Bayern, as it could possibly fit head coach Thomas Tuchel’s profile extremely well.

As it is now stated in a “Sport1” report, Amrabat should not yet be considered a too serious alternative for the German record champions. On the one hand, the 26-year-old is still considered too inexperienced internationally, as he has only made eight Champions League appearances and two Europa League games.

Amrabat probably wants to go to FC Barcelona rather than to Munich

In addition, the player himself should not have chosen Munich as his top career goal. Amrabat should be more interested in making a move to Spain, ideally to the new LaLiga champions FC Barcelona.

The Dutch-born Moroccan has been playing for AC Fiorentina since 2020 and is under contract there until 2024.

In recent months, Amrabat has repeatedly been traded with top European clubs and is said to have been on the list with top teams from the English Premier League. At least at FC Bayern, he doesn’t seem to be the first choice (yet).
