As expected, Nicolas Kühn has left SK Rapid and joined Scottish league leaders Celtic Glasgow. The German right winger signed a contract with the “Hoops” that runs until 2029 on Tuesday evening. The British are said to have paid around 3.5 million euros as a transfer fee, making Kühn one of the most expensive Rapid departures in history.

The former top talent moved from FC Bayern Munich’s reserves to Hütteldorf in the summer of 2022 and played a total of 51 competitive games for Rapid, in which he scored seven goals. As a replacement for the offensive man, the Green-Whites also signed a player on Tuesday in the form of storm talent Christoph Lang.
Rapids sports director Markus Katzer said: “With Nicolas Kühn we are leaving a valuable player who I personally and on behalf of our club would like to wish only the best for the future. I hope he can demonstrate his undoubtedly huge potential even better in Scotland than here. Nic really wanted to take this next step in his career. Since the conditions were ultimately right for us, we complied with his request for a change.”
His new coach Brendan Rodgers added: “We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Celtic. We believe he is a dynamic player who has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play. He has the profile we are looking for, he is a real attacking player, a player with a lot of pace and ideas, capable of scoring goals and a player with great energy and work ethic. He’s a player who can play on both sides so he brings that versatility to us and I and the coaches here are really looking forward to working with him.”
