AMG dominance at the Nürburgring continues

Mercedes-AMG also dictated what happened in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring on Sunday: In the second qualifying session, four AMG GT3s finished in the top 6, but grid penalties resulted in a quadruple pole for the Affalterbacher. The best starting position again went to the Landgraf-Mercedes #48.

Shortly before the end, Maro Engel set the best time of 1:25.621 minutes and thus pushed Ben Green in the Schubert-BMW #10 (Green/Krütten) out of the lead in the final phase. Green ended up second.

“We expected other manufacturers to come closer. And today it was actually close. The Nürburgring is a bit my living room and is always something special. It’s always a nice feeling to come here,” says Engel.

Third was Jules Gounon in the ZVO-Mercedes #4 (Gounon/Schiller), ahead of Frank Bird in the second Landgraf-Mercedes #84 (Bird/Seppänen) and Christopher Haase in the Land-Audi #28 (Haase/S. Owega). Luca Stolz in the ZVO-Mercedes #8 (Stolz/Marschalkowski) follows in sixth place.

Albert Costa in the Emil-Frey-Lamborghini #63 (Costa/Aitken), Konsta Lappalainen in the Emil-Frey-Lamborghini #14 (Wishofer/Lappalainen), Christopher Mies in the Land-Audi #1 (Mies/Zimmermann) and Dennis Marschall in the Rutronik -Audi #27 (Marschall/Schramm) complete the top 10.

Due to grid penalties, however, the order at the top changes again: The vehicles of Green, Haase and Marco Mapelli in the Paul-Lamborghini #71 (Mapelli/Paul) received a penalty of five starting positions for various offences.

Green starts from P6 after applying the penalties, behind Engel, Gounon, Bird, Stolz and Costa. It will be ninth starting position for Haase. Between him and Green on the starting grid are Lappalainen on P7 and Mies on P8.
