An American teenager last week saved his sister from a kidnapping attempt using an ancient but effective weapon: a slingshot.
The eight-year-old girl was picking mushrooms at the back of her house in Alpena (Great Lakes region) last Wednesday when an unidentified young man jumped out of the bushes. The perpetrator (17) grabbed her and put a hand over her mouth, it sounds in a statement from the local police. Still, she managed to pry free.
Her 13-year-old brother, who witnessed the scene, then pulled out his slingshot. The stones hit the young perpetrator’s head and chest.
The police were able to locate and arrest the amateurish kidnapper. He had visible injuries from the incident.
The teen was charged with attempted kidnapping of a minor. Despite his young age, he will be tried as an adult.
