“When Card Members book travel through American Express Travel, they trust us with their most valuable resource: their time,” said Audrey Hendley, President, American Express Travel. “Through our global presence, our more than 100 years of experience in the tourism sector and our thorough understanding of the needs of our card members, we are able like no other company to inspire travelers with this year’s list of trending destinations, simplify their planning process and enable them comprehensive advice on how to fully enjoy your stay.”
According to the recent Amex Trendex2-Survey, 50 percent of adults spend at least five hours planning a vacation. To help travelers save time and get the most out of their trip, American Express Travel’s travel consultants have curated three-day weekend tours for each trending destination that include recommendations such as the best places to stay, eat, and things to do to experience the local culture.
81% of the participants of the Amex Trendex2-Survey strive to make the most of every hour of their journey. The recommendations of experts in the Trending Destinations tours are very helpful. Whether alone, with friends or family, the tours offer something for everyone: from the best churros in Mexico City and encounters with koalas in Sydney, to a treatment at a luxury spa in Paris or hiking in a maple forest in Vermont.
Furthermore, 88% of those questioned would like to be able to extend their stay. Platinum Card members enjoy a guaranteed benefit: late check-out at 4pm – when booking a Fine Hotels + Resorts property through American Express Travel. Late check-out, one of many premium benefits when booking with American Express Travel, grants travelers a “bonus day” to extend their stay. The Trending Destinations tours offer valuable suggestions on how Card members can make the most of their trip: a master’s course in cheese making in Paris, a sailing trip to the Princes’ Islands near Istanbul and a shopping spree in Lisbon for authentic Portuguese produce.
In addition to the top destinations, American Express Travel has identified the most important trends for travel in 2023:
