American crosses North Korean border and is immediately arrested | Abroad

The American visited the DMZ, about 50 kilometers north of the South Korean capital Seoul. There is a gap in the separation between the two Koreas, which is also very popular with tourists. It is currently unknown why the man crossed the border.

North and South Korea have no official border, but they do have a ceasefire line at the site of the front. There, the Korean War ended in 1953 after three years. Formally, the two countries have never made peace. The demarcation zone, which is under the control of the United Nations, is 4 kilometers wide and 250 kilometers long.

In 2019, then-US President Donald Trump also briefly walked on North Korean grounds during his meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
