As expected, American basketball player Brittney Griner (31) has appealed the nine-year prison sentence she received in Russia for drug possession and smuggling. Griner was convicted early this month after she had been carrying cannabis oil, saying she had no intention of smuggling. Her lawyers had asked for an acquittal.
