US start with evacuation flights from Israel
The United States started with evacuation flights of American citizens from Israel and the West Bank. The American ambassador in Israel Mike Huckabee announced this on X. The reason for the evacuations are the attacks between Israel and Iran.
According to a spokesperson for the US Department of Foreign Affairs, about seventy people from Tel Aviv have been taken to the Greek capital Athens on two flights regulated by the US government. The spokesperson fored Americans in Israel to leave the country on their own without waiting for government aid, if possible.
Various other countries, including China, India and a number of European countries, have also started evacuations.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs tries to map out where Dutch people are still staying in Iran, Iraq, Israel and the West Bank, “so that we can possibly advise and support them more specifically about independent departure”.
