Amélie (14) has been missing since Saturday: ‘Our positivism is less’

14-year-old Amélie from Sint-Oedenrode has been missing since nine o’clock on Saturday morning. She left for Best by bike and has not been seen since.

“Amélie’s mother checked her telephone via a timeline,” says Anika. She is a friend of Amélie’s mother. “The timeline showed that Amélie was cycling from Sint Oedenrode to Best. From the place where her bike was found, you can see that a car is moving on. But that signal stops, so the GPS is turned off from that moment on.”

Amélie is 1.65 meters tall and has a normal build. On the day of her disappearance, she was wearing a light shirt and dark pants, black sneakers with a white stripe and a gray vest.

The police have been informed of her disappearance. On Monday morning, he announced that the message had been sent to the national police and the criminal investigation department. “We are also looking for ourselves and hung flyers in Best on Sunday to announce that Amélie is missing.”

‘It’s a very big mystery’
“When you’re at home, you want to leave because you want to go looking”, Anika explains. “You want to do something to make sure that Amélie is found. But when you’re gone, you think: I’d rather be home because she’ll be home soon and I’m not there. So we want to make sure that someone is always home .”

According to her, Amélie has never disappeared without a trace before. Her family has no idea why she would leave without saying anything. “And not with whom either, because there are no people we know in Best. It is a very big mystery what we run into.”

The longer the harder
According to Anika, the family is having a harder time with the situation. “We have been very positive – and we still try to be – but you are now more than 48 hours further. You notice that the positivism is less.”

Amélie’s mother begs her daughter on social media to please speak up. “Come home, you are sorely missed.”
