Amber is just not a ‘Deutsche Superstar’ but very proud of second place

Amber van den Elzen (21) from Gemert finished second on Saturday evening in the German version of the TV talent show ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’. On Sunday afternoon she is still fully enjoying her participation, together with her family on a terrace in Cologne. “I’m doing really well, this has been such a great experience. Now it’s really over, that’s different.”

About a year ago, Amber took the stage of the talent show for the first time, for the very first round. And she stayed in it to the bitter end.

She is euphoric about her participation. “It has been a roller coaster, so much has happened in that year. Round by round, those live shows with a live band. It was great to be able to participate in that. I also learned so much, they have very good singing coaches.”

Last month she was also in quarantine to prevent her from getting corona. “The hotel had a roof terrace where I could go outside, sometimes I was allowed to take a walk outside. Actually, I traveled from the hotel to the studio and back again. If someone got corona, production could not continue. I now enjoy sitting on a terrace again.”

“I’ve actually enjoyed every round as if it were the last. Maybe that’s what I’m most proud of.”

She sang ‘House of the rising sun’ and ‘Island in the stream’ by Dolly Parton on Saturday. But also her own song ‘Someone to you’.

She made this single in collaboration with the German music producer and songwriter Toby Gad. A big name in music land, he collaborated on John Legend’s ‘All of me’ and Beyoncé’s ‘If I were a boy’. “My song is now in the top 7 in the German charts.”

She is proud of her participation. She didn’t give nerves a chance during the last show. “I realized that this would be the last time I could stand on the podium for ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’. I actually enjoyed every round as if it were the last. Perhaps that’s what I’m most proud of.”

Tony Gab has now offered her to go to Nashville to meet people. “I really want that, it’s a new dream come true. But now I’m going to reminisce, rest and sleep well for a few days.”

However, she does have a very clear vision of the future for herself: “I want to write songs myself, become a singer and really make a living from it. I have to work hard for that.”

Waiting for privacy settings…
