Amber Heard speaks out after Johnny Depp’s trial

As part of the launch of “Aquaman 2,” the actress thanks her fans on Instagram.

The Depp vs. Heard trial was now a year and a half ago. Since then, Amber Heard has largely stayed out of the public eye. She took the theatrical release of “Aquaman 2: Lost Kingdom” (December 21, 2023), in which the actress can be seen in the role of Mera, as an opportunity to thank her fans for their support with an Instagram post. It’s her first post since July 2023.

The 37-year-old posted three photos that were taken while filming the film on the social media platform on January 3rd. “Thank you to all my fans for the overwhelming support and love on Mera’s AQ return,” Heard wrote in the description of the post, which includes a picture of her with her daughter.

It wasn’t clear whether the actress would play her character again in the DC sequel after the start of the libel trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. Since Depp was stripped of his “Fantastic Beasts” role, an online petition founded in 2019 called for the same sentence for the actress. Director James Wan also considered excluding her from the production. However, these are said to have had nothing to do with the process. He lacked the chemistry between Amber Heard and Jason Momoa, according to Variety.

Ultimately, the decisive factor in her being part of the film was a conversation with Elon Musk, who was dating the actress at the time. He convinced the film studio to cast him. Her screen time in the DC sequel isn’t all that long, but the 37-year-old can still be seen in a few scenes.

Amber Heard’s first major film role after the trial was in “In The Fire”. The Italian-US co-production will be released in Germany on January 26th. January on DVD. Watch the trailer here:
