Amazon wants to hire 6,000 new employees in Germany

Amazon plans to hire more than 6,000 new employees in Germany this year. By the end of the year, the number of employees at the US company in Germany is expected to rise to 36,000, as the German subsidiary of the IT group and online retailer announced on Monday in Munich.

From 2010 to 2020, Amazon invested more than 36.5 billion euros in Germany, with a large part of the investments flowing into jobs and the development and expansion of infrastructure. According to Amazon, it now has more than 100 locations in Germany. The new jobs are to be created in all business areas and at all locations, from logistics centers to research and development.

Amazon has grown rapidly worldwide in recent years. At the end of last year, the group employed a total of 1.6 million people, most of whom are still in the USA. This makes the group one of the largest private employers in the world. (dpa)
