The time has come from mid-September: If you want to use Amazon Prime packages or services in the future, you will have to pay more. Amazon Prime has already increased its prices in the United States – now it should be Germany’s turn.
Inflation leaves Amazon no choice
The company started raising prices back in February 2022. At the beginning of the year, Amazon announced that this measure “only affects the USA”, but from September 15th prices in Germany are also to be increased. The price decision applies to all Prime offers. This includes, for example, the Amazon Prime subscription, the monthly cost of which has now been increased from EUR 7.99 to EUR 8.99. The annual subscription increases from 69 to 89.90 euros. Discounted subscriptions for students and trainees are also affected. In future, they will no longer have to pay 3.99 euros, but 4.49 euros – this will also increase the annual subscription from 34 to 44.95 euros.
A digital newsletter is currently making the rounds and informs all Prime customers about the new regulation. In this, Amazon justifies the increasing prices as follows: “We are making this change in light of general and significant changes in costs due to inflation. These lead to an increase in the costs of the Prime service in your country and are based on external circumstances that are beyond our control”.
Amazon Prime: New price only applies with the next debit
So if you want to go bargain hunting shortly beforehand, you should get a Prime membership before September 15th. Because: The price is valid for the entire duration of the subscription. So if you take out an annual subscription beforehand, you don’t have to pay extra until the next time you’re charged. The deal includes free premium shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming and Prime Photos. Occasionally there are also exclusive offers that are limited in time, such as when buying certain products.
