Amazon Prime Day 2.0 announced – this is what Amazon customers can expect

The shipping giant Amazon has announced the second Prime Day for 2023 via X, formerly Twitter.

• Exact date for fall event to be announced
• Last Amazon Prime Day was the most successful in the company’s history
• Preparing for bargain hunting: wish lists and push notifications

The so-called Amazon “Prime Big Deal Days” are scheduled to take place simultaneously in October in 19 countries, including Germany. Amazon announced this on the short message service X.

An exact date for the shipping giant’s shopping event has not yet been announced. In previous years, Prime Days were only scheduled shortly before the actual date. However, a very likely date – due to similar constellations last year – would be October 10th and 11th, wrote t3n, citing dealer circles.

Only subscribers to the Amazon Prime offer can benefit from the reduced prices. If you don’t yet have a Prime membership, you’ve been able to take it out at short notice in the past. However, this could be different at the October event, according to PC-World. Apparently an existing Amazon Prime account could be a prerequisite for access to the offers.

Amazon Prime event in July: Most successful discount battle in the company’s history

Amazon’s last discount event for Prime members only took place on July 11th. Amazon Prime Day 2023 was the most successful shopping event in the online mail order company’s history to date. “The first day of Prime Day was the largest day of sales in Amazon history, and Prime members saved more than at any other Prime Day event this year,” Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Stores, said in the Company press release quoted. According to Amazon, over 375 million items were sold during the two-day shopping event and more than $2.5 billion in total discounts were offered.

Prime Day deals – preparation for bargain hunters

According to research by t3n, it is particularly worthwhile to rely on the Prime bargain days for products from the categories of accessories and consumer goods from Amazon’s own brands, clothing and shoes (similar to sales), kitchen appliances and cooking accessories as well as toys and sports and leisure items. However, the magazine for digital pioneers sees little potential in smartphones, game consoles, Apple products, Chinese-made accessories, software, games and films. The so-called “lightning offers” have also lost some of their original attractiveness.

In preparation for the bargain days in October, numerous portals recommend adding the products you want to your Amazon shopping cart in order to be informed in good time about any price reductions. The Internet portal GIGA recommends installing the Amazon app in order to have access to push notifications on your smartphone via the wish list.

Outside deal days: year-round offers

But the former online bookseller also boasts weekly and daily deals during the year, which can be viewed directly on the Prime page. Various price comparison portals have now made it their mission to compile and link the highest discounted Amazon items so that readers can buy the products directly via affiliate links. This also applies to the big discount events. Bargains are also possible as part of the Amazon returns sale. Here customers can purchase returned or used products as well as new goods with damaged packaging at reduced prices.

However, most portals that put together such offers point out one important thing: customers should always compare Amazon prices with those of other providers, because they often adjust their pricing when there is increased demand.
