Amazon Prime confuses Steel Panther with Mötley Crüe

Even billionaire companies make mistakes. Amazon Prime incorrectly used a photo of Steel Panther for the documentary “Rock ‘n Roll Icon: Mötley Crüe”. So there was a picture of the band satirizing 80’s metal with the words Mötley Crüe on it.

A Steel Panther fan might have noticed the error. Uploading the video to Instagram, she commented, “I found this while looking for outfit ideas. This is the official link from Amazon. Who will tell them?”. Steel Panther singer Michael Starr posted the post on his profile.

Bad blood between the bands

Will Mötley Crüe take the confusion with humor? Rather unlikely. In 2019, bassist Nikki Sixx called Steel Panther “assholes” and “traitors.” Key was a comment from Michael Starr, who joked he’d like to bring Motley Crüe singer Vince Neil back to life from the dead. For the uninitiated, Vince Neil is not dead.

In 2011, the bands went on tour together. But even then you should have got along badly with each other. Steel Panther’s ironic self-portrayal bothered Mötley Crüe. “They wanted to kill us. Every night they wanted to kill us,” Steel Panther guitarist Satchel said in an interview.
